re: The constitution (please read and reply)
Please read the following post very carefully. If you agree to it, reply with a short message with your signature. This is a requirement to be promoted past recruit rank.
Philosophy.
Respect. Each member of Artifact agrees to treat all players within and outside of Artifact with respect at all times. We're all here to have fun; let's not forget that.
Forums. They're our major form of communication. Come back daily if you can, look around for new posts, and do a little posting yourself if you've got something to say.
Growth. We want the guild to be small, and grow slowly with players we all know and enjoy playing with. Therefore, we'll have an application process, and expect that the application will be supported by at least one person who has run several instances or pvp'd with the recruit. Applications are required for all recruits, even close friends. If there's a player you like playing with, we probably will like playing with her or him too! Do your best to convince them to apply.
Guild events. Some players enjoy raiding, others PvP, or instances, or mucking around on alts. There's room for all. However, the guild will be most fun if you log on planning to do something with the guild, not spend hours working on solo achievements. If someone asks to run an 80 instance, go for it even if you don't "need" it -- you'll learn from them, or they'll learn from you; either way is a win.
Progression. It's nice to take down a new boss, or get a new piece of loot. These are the happy consequences of playing well, working as a team, and having a successful raid. They are not the goal, and we will never invite new players to the guild in large quantities simply to have a better chance at epics. We will not bully people into showing up at raids, raid every night until 4 am, or choose officers based solely on their raid experience.
Tolerance. Racist, sexist, or homophobic jokes or language have no place. Comments like "Allies are gay." "We raped that boss.", "Omg my character was black in escape from Durnholde" will eventually hurt or offend someone.
Leadership.
Ranks. All players are considered equal. There are no "officers" in the usual sense. Diplomats and the founder are there to serve the guild, not to tell people what to do.
You don't need to be an officer to lead. If you are always polite to other players, teach them what you know, and form instance groups, people will notice. Leaders who let people grow, and trust people to do the job, rather than micromanaging, are the most effective.
Job assignments will be based on established leadership, not friendship, gear, or some estimate of skill.
Alts. There will be an "alt" rank, and public notes will be used to designate alts; every alt must have a public note with the name of the main character. This is simply so that we know who is who, an will have no effect on loot policy or anything else.
Teaching. If you have experience or a few tricks you've learned, it's your responsibility to pass them on to other players. However, teaching should be done privately, and outside the instance or raid, rather than trying to give instructions during the run. Also, remember to be open to new ideas -- there are many ways to succeed at every encounter.
Raiding and loot.
Raiding schedules. We will be sane and relaxed, and do not expect raiders to raid more than twice per week. Raids will be scheduled at fixed times.
Raid leaders. Each scheduled raid will have one raid leader. The raid leader will mark targets, discuss strategy before fights, etc, but will not micromanage, or assign loot in a way inconsistent with the loot policy. To the extent possible, in raids we are comfortable with, (e.g. Naxx 10) raid leadership will rotate among interested players on a per-raid basis, so that everyone can have (and learn from) the experience of leading raids.
Raid invitations. Priority on invitations will be typically given to players who sign up on the raid calendar at least one day in advance of the raid. Invitations will start fifteen minutes before the scheduled raid start time, and you must be in the instance buffed and ready to go at raid start. Expect to progress through raids that you have gear and experience for; you should do all heroics heroics before naxx 10, naxx 10 before ulduar 10, ulduar 10 before ulduar 25.
Puggers. Priority on invitations to raids will be given to Artifact players. However, once an invitation has been made, it will not be retracted even if an Artifact player becomes available. Our reputation for fairness matters.
Raid preparation. You should also bring your own potions and consumables, and may be asked to bring more things to future raids. Flasks or the equivalent are required for all main raids.
If you would like to be in Artifact, please respond to this post with a short message with your signature.
