About Artifact

Artifact is a small, friendly endgame guild. We pride ourselves on our polite, articulate, and respectful players. We raid only a few times a week, but take it seriously and have been doing well. We run 25-person raids on Tuesdays at 4 pm server, and on the weekends at 10:30 am server, and do ZA, Kara, heroics, and PvP throughout the week.

Recruiting is OPEN for skilled players. We are looking for shaman and druid healers to round out our raid team. We also potentially have spots for balance druids, elemental shamans, or enhancement shamans. There are currently no openings for melee dps or tanks. Skilled PvP players are also very welcome, but should contact Ozex before applying. All members must read and sign the Artifact constitution.

Photo and meeting

by BrontesGM, 3 days ago

We had 50 (!) online for the guild photo. That's a new record for number online. The photo almost even looked organized -- thanks.

There was a tank meeting afterwards. We discussed the following issues:

1) Tank rotation. We'll set up a rotation for 25s as people get ready to tank. Maybe a point system, where tanks get one point for going to a raid as non-tank, or for being subbed out, and lose a point for tanking a 25. We can work out details as we get to 25s.

2) Nax 10. Currently, Bloodancient, Revin, Aggro are closest to 80. Aggro will be the main tank for Nax 10 on Tuesday at 5 pm server. If you can be 80 by then with an epic or three, please sign up. We particularly need HEALERS. Tale, Deniden, Tessara, Trog are probably closest to 80.

3) Main tank gearing. The idea of gearing 1-2 tanks sooner than the others was discussed. Most guilds do this, and it does provide some benefit in terms of progression speed. The weakness is that if that main tank doesn't show to the raid, the raid suffers a major setback. It's also harder to do 10s. I propose a compromise: we put the currently most-active 4-5 main tanks on a separate suicide list. Tank gear (including tier gear that can be used by tanks!) goes to that list. Any non-suicided tank gear is distributed by the raid leader, at no cost. We can run the tank-suicide even if we have EPGP. Probably Ghastias, as our only feral, will gear up fast, but that's fine; the others should catch up pretty quick.

4) Offspec gearing. Our main tanks have been extremely reliable. They've worked harder than most to learn the fights, and showed up every time we needed them. I did not at all like the fact that we had to sit them out for so many fights. Partially this was because of how unsuitable many fights were for melee, and partially it's because our tanks weren't geared to do anything but tank. A simple fix is that we will not charge gear points or suicide spots for tank gear. (See 3.) Tanks will also compete on an even basis for healer or dps spots in raids. We will not recruit any additional melee dps for our raid teams.

3) and 4) will be controversial, especially when a tank gets a 'free' piece of tank gear and then suicides on a dps or healer piece in the same raid. These rules are required to make our tanks effective. If it bothers you, think about the fact that tank gear isn't useful for anything except tanking; and if it's being used, it's being used for you.

Class balance

by BrontesGM, 4 days ago

I'm seeing a lot of death knights being leveled super-fast by people who are neglecting their former mains. I don't think we'll be taking more than 2-3 death knights to raids, so make sure you understand your decision.
